ADHD Testing / Assessment
ADHD Testing now available at Robina Town and Easy T Medical Centres.
We’re pleased to offer a structured ADHD assessment service for children, adolescents, and adults at Robina Town Medical Centre.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can affect attention, organisation, impulse control, emotional regulation, and everyday functioning at school, work, and home.
Many people live with symptoms for years before receiving clarity or support. Our goal is to provide a thoughtful, thorough, and patient-centred assessment pathway within general practice.
Our Approach to ADHD Assessment
ADHD assessment is complex and cannot be accurately or safely completed in a single short appointment. We use a structured, evidence-based process to ensure each assessment is comprehensive and tailored to the individual.
Our assessment pathway includes:
- Three extended consultations to explore current concerns and developmental history
- Validated screening questionnaires
- Collateral information where appropriate (such as school reports or family input)
- Careful assessment of other factors that can overlap with ADHD, including:
- Anxiety and mood conditions
- Sleep difficulties
- Learning differences
- Trauma history
- Physical health considerations, including heart conditions and the implications of stimulant medication
This approach helps ensure clarity, safety, and accurate clinical decision-making.
What this means for patients
- Assessments are conducted by GPs with a special interest and additional training in ADHD.
- Appointments are not rushed, allowing time for careful listening and understanding.
- The focus is on appropriate care, not quick or automatic diagnoses
- Where ADHD is identified, we work collaboratively to develop a practical management plan, which may include:
- Education and understanding of ADHD
- Practical strategies and supports
- Referrals to allied health or specialist services where needed
