Dr Anna Alderton – General Practitioner
Special Interests and Expertise
Dr Anna worked in both urban and rural General Practice in NZ. She also worked in a 24hr Accident and Medical clinic in Christchurch, NZ. She taught medical students at the University of Otago, and was involved in preparing evidence based education and resources for GP’s, practicenurses and community pharmacists in Christchurch.
Since moving to the Gold Coast, Dr Anna’s interest in womens health has continued, and shecurrently works as a GPwSI in Gynaecology at the Gold Coast University Hospital, running a Heavy Menstrual Bleeding clinic and a Mirena clinic. She has also completed a year of work in the IVF field.
Dr Anna currently teaches medical students at Bond University.
About Dr Anna
Graduating from the University of Otago in NZ, Dr Anna is a vocationally registered GP with a Post
Graduate Diploma in Child Health and a Post Graduate Certificate in Womens Health.
Dr Anna had always wanted to be a doctor since she was a young child. Prior to studying medicine, she completed a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Medicine. She then worked in personal training and exercise rehabilitation, before returning to University to study medicine.
Dr Anna now practises in all areas of general practice, and has extensive experience in womens health including; contraception, sexual health, obstetrics and gynaecology, and child health. She is passionate about providing evidence based holistic care, and continuity of care, to all patients, and about medical education.
When it comes to general practice what she enjoys the most is being able to treat patients of all ages from newborns to the elderly and providing care to families.
Originally from Christchurch NZ, Dr Anna has lived on the Gold Coast for 5 years with her husband and 3 children. She enjoys running, participates in ultra-marathons, and loves the outdoors, camping and hiking.
