Benefits of Flu Vaccination

The flu vaccine significantly reduces the risk of contracting influenza and associated complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis. It not only protects you but also helps prevent the spread of the virus to others, particularly those who may be more susceptible to severe illness. Your immune system will be better equipped to recognise and fight off the specific strains of the virus contained in the vaccine, should you come into contact with them.

Influenza, RSV & COVID-19

It’s been a busy few months at our practices with winter viruses affecting patients of all ages.

Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Covid-19 have created a prolonged winter illness season this year.

Any of these viruses can lead to severe illness, complications and even hospitalisation, especially for vulnerable individuals such as the elderly, children, pregnant women and those with underlying health conditions.

If you have any questions or concerns about influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations, our team is here to provide you with the necessary information to help you make an informed decision for your health. While there is not currently a vaccine for RSV, this may be available in Australia from 2024.

Winter Health Tips

Hand hygiene

Regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. This simple practice can help reduce the transmission of various winter viruses, including the common cold and flu.

Stay hydrated

Although we may not feel as thirsty during winter, it’s important to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of fluids, particularly water, helps to support our body’s natural defense mechanisms.

Lifestyle & nutrition

A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, coupled with regular exercise and sufficient sleep, can contribute to improving your overall health during the winter months.

Were here to support you through the winter season and beyond. Please feel free to reach out to our healthcare professionals for medical advice, health concerns or to schedule your vaccinations.

Thank goodness spring is just around the corner!
