CORONAVIRUS INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS

ALL PATIENTS are eligible for a bulk-billed phone or video consultation. 

Criteria: You must have a valid Medicare card and have seen one of our GP's in the past 12 months. Book a Telehealth appointment online or via Reception. (For a smooth consultation aim to book with your usual GP)

You still need to attend (or pay) for some services e.g.

  • Non-Medicare services like Medicals, Travel, or insurance paperwork
  • Procedure or treatment room services like immunisations or vaccinations
  • Workcover (whilst your claim is pending)

DON'T ATTEND THE PRACTICE IF:

You have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid or in contact with someone unwell after Overseas travel. INSTEAD ring 13HEALTH (1343 2584) for advice or attend one of the two Gold Coast Fever Clinics for testing. Head to the emergency department at Gold Coast University Hospital or opposite Robina hospital in the health precinct.

IF YOU NEED TO ATTEND FOR AN APPOINTMENT:

If you have any of the following symptoms (no matter how minor) you must remain outside and call us:

  • A cough, cold, sneeze, sniffle, shortness of breath, sore throat or FEVER no matter how minor!

Your GP will pop out with a mask for a quick assessment before you come in. There is a national shortage of masks so we cannot offer you one at this time. Your GP may lead you through to their room and open doors for you or they may complete the consultation outside.

If YOU have no symptoms and are generally well, you may come into the surgery BUT:

Please use antibacterial hand gel immediately on arrival. Only then check in via the kiosk screens or through Reception.

To limit the people in the surgery, please come alone or have only one parent/carer in attendance. Please sit apart from others or stand if you need to.

ATTENTION! General Infection Control

WAITING ROOMS: Encourage other family members to wait outside the practice if possible to minimise the number of people in the waiting areas. 

IMMUNISATIONS: There is currently no vaccine for coronavirus although we recommend considering vaccinations for influenza/ flu, pneumonia and whooping cough. We recommend getting your flu shot early this year to reduce the risk of being co-infected with the flu and Coronavirus. We will advise on this website when the flu vaccines are available for our patients. More information here. 

ASTHMA & LUNG DISEASES: Patients with asthma or lung diseases should be reviewed to optimise lung health going into the cooler months.

PRESCRIPTIONS: We encourage patients to have a sensible supply of prescription medications to get you through 2-3 weeks in case you are required to self-isolate.

PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE AND INFECTION CONTROL: Regularly wash your hands and avoid touching your eyes or mouth after touching external objects such as stair rails, shopping trolley handles etc. More information on how to protect yourself here.

  • More than one family member to be seen
  • Appointments that also need the nurse, e.g. dressings, vaccinations, child health checks, ECG's, spirometry, ear syringing.
